From a boat cruise
to a destination.

Enter Freddy.

We were both camping on our own — often at Campit — but hadn't met yet. Then Adam met Freddy during a late-night boat cruise out of Sidetrack. When Freddy posted that he was heading to Campit's Mardi Gras weekend, Adam replied to say he'd be there too.

That weekend, Freddy introduced Adam to Jason (and Jason's partner, Andrew) — and the connection stuck. The season wrapped, but the story was just getting started.

Camping becomes the plan.

When summer 2020 came and camping became a pandemic-friendly escape, we started doing weekend trips together — including one to a gay campground in Indiana. Somewhere between those weekends, an idea began to form: not just a place to stay, but a place to gather.

"Should we go seasonal next year?"

Over beers at darts league, the question came up. It wasn't a dramatic decision — it was casual. Logical. And slightly dangerous.

For the 2021 and 2022 seasons, Jason's tiny Palomino truck camper became home base. Cozy is a generous word: tight squeezes, creative storage, and lots of laughter. That's when Site 71 officially began.

Room to host.

We upgraded to a 33' Forest River camper — technically able to sleep 10, realistically perfect for 6 or 7. That upgrade changed everything. Friends could stay. Weekends got bigger. The deck stopped being an add-on and started being the beginning of something social.

Through 2023 and 2024, Site 71 felt less like "our campsite" and more like a gathering point.

The destination era begins.

Enter the 36' Coachmen Catalina Legacy Edition. More space, better flow, room to truly settle in. But the real evolution happened around the camper: a full outdoor kitchen with bar seating, prep space, layered lighting, and a glowing sign that makes it very clear — this is where the drinks are.

Afternoon snacks turn into evening cocktails. Evening cocktails turn into late-night conversations. The kitchen became the heartbeat of the site.

The social headquarters.

Somewhere along the way, Site 71 became more than a home base — it became a starting point. We host the Friday cocktail crawl, welcoming newcomers and longtime campers alike. Introductions happen here. Laughs start here. Weekends officially begin here.

The hot tub is a staple — swimsuits optional, inhibitions negotiable, chemistry and consent always. And the golf carts? We take our parties (and our wheels) seriously.
